New beginnings, professionally and personally
Next up in our Employee Spotlight Series is Frontend Engineer, Yelyzaveta Yefremova.
When Yelyzaveta first joined Sprout.ai in July 2022, she brought with her not only a fresh perspective, but a drive to start a new chapter in her career. Even before knowing much about Sprout, she felt a connection with the role and the company’s mission.
“I was applying for lots of different frontend engineering positions and remember telling my friend, ‘There’s one really cool company I’d love to work for’ – it was Sprout. I didn’t know much about the company at that point, but the job stood out.”
The first and most lasting impression of Sprout wasn’t just the work, it was the people. From her earliest conversations, the support of the team made a real difference.
“Everyone I met was so kind and understanding – especially when my English wasn’t perfect yet. No one ever made me feel uncomfortable. That really meant a lot to me.”
A supportive start and a standout moment
During the interview process, Yelyzaveta quickly realised that Sprout’s commitment to growth wasn’t just talk, mentorship and development were truly part of the company culture.
“During my technical interview, I was honest about my experience with one of the frontend frameworks. Instead of it being a problem, I was reassured that support and learning were part of the process. That made me realise Sprout was a place where people are truly invested in your growth.”
A path of continuous learning
Since joining, Yelyzaveta has grown from a junior to a mid-level engineer, thanks to the combination of supportive teammates and continuous learning opportunities.
“I’ve learned so much – new JavaScript libraries, frameworks, and even improved in areas I already had experience in. Beyond technical skills, I’ve developed soft skills too: presenting my work, communicating effectively, and taking ownership.”
Whether it’s through building products or refining processes, every interaction is an opportunity to grow.
“Every merge request review is a chance to learn something, whether it’s a best practice, a new way to structure code, or just a different approach.”
Visible impact and a culture of recognition
One of the unique rewards of working in frontend development is the immediate, visible impact of your work. For Yelyzaveta, this combined with Sprout’s culture of recognition has been a great motivator.
“With frontend, everything is right there on the screen, people can see it, use it. That visibility is motivating. And at Sprout, your work is always recognised and appreciated, which makes you want to give your best every day.”
Team support and collaboration
At Sprout, a key driver of our success is our shared commitment to continuous learning and growth. This fuels a collaborative culture and nurtures a collective hunger for personal and team development.
“I’d describe the culture as healthy and supportive. There’s no competition, just collaboration. We all want each other to grow.”
The engineering team encourages support and responsiveness, especially when it comes to solving technical challenges together.
“For technical issues, like devops challenges or something not working, we have dedicated support channels. When I’m stuck on an engineering task, I just drop a message in the engineering channel, and someone will often hop on a quick call to help. I never really feel stuck for long”
Most valuable lesson
So, what’s the most valuable lesson Yelyzaveta has learned at Sprout? A positive workplace can shift your perspective on the start of the week.
“You don’t hate Mondays if you work at the right place. If you enjoy what you do and the people you work with, even Monday mornings feel okay.”
